Are you unsure whether a mammogram is necessary? A mammogram takes only a few minutes and involves taking four X-ray images—two views of each breast. It makes it possible to identify and detect so-called asymptomatic changes (lumps and other abnormalities in the breast) at a very early stage of development—when they cannot be felt by the woman or a doctor, which significantly increases the chances of recovery.

Although mammography is the most effective method of breast cancer prevention, still fewer than half of women have undergone a free examination as part of the Population-Based Programme for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer, says Dr Małgorzata Cymerman from LUX MED Diagnostyka. We encourage women to take preventive measures against breast cancer, as it is the most common malignant tumour among Polish women.

LUX MED Diagnostyka invites women to free mammography screenings in a mobile mammography unit, which will take place:

  • in Nowogrodziec—1 March in the car park at the Municipal Office, 1 Rynek Street
  • in Osiecznica—2 March in front of the Health Centre, by the Municipal Services Establishment, 1A Piaskowa Street.

Free mammography for women aged:

  • 50–69
The examination under the Population-Based Programme for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer is free of charge and reimbursed for women every two years by the National Health Fund (or every 12 months for women who received the relevant written indication as part of the Programme). A doctor’s referral is not required.
  • 40–49 and 70–75
Examinations are carried out as part of the project “Improving the availability and quality of medical services under the Population-Based Programme for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer”, co-financed by EEA funds and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. A referral from a doctor of any specialty is required. More information about the examinations and a referral form are available at: www.fundusze.mammo.pl.

For examinations under both programmes, please register in advance by calling 58 666 2 444. The Call Centre is open seven days a week.
