Wage negotiations at the provincial hospital in Bolesławiec were brief. They took place on 13 February. The employees were jointly represented by Wioleta Torończak, Teresa Dubicka and Mirosław Kochanowski, while the hospital management was represented by director Janusz Kalisz. Those present jointly concluded that specific discussions on pay rises could take place only once the hospital had signed annual contracts with the National Health Fund.
"For the first quarter of this year, employees will receive a bonus in accordance with the regulations we negotiated in August last year, while we have postponed the issue of pay rises until the second quarter," comments Mirosław Kochanowski, chairman of NSZZ "Solidarność". "We decided that we would negotiate the increase in salaries for 2007 by 30 June, effective from the beginning of May," adds director Janusz Kalisz. "If we approved a pay rise now, it would be merely symbolic—two or three per cent. In practice, most employees would not even notice the change in their pay. I think that in the second quarter we will be able to discuss higher amounts for everyone employed at our hospital. I should add that the bonus for the first quarter will be credited to employees' accounts by 10 April," explains Janusz Kalisz.
