Wojciech Kasprzyk at the January session of the Bolesławiec City Council:

I am referring to my interpellation of 25 November last year concerning talks with banks about installing an ATM at the 40th Anniversary Estate. Please provide more information about what has been established.

“In May 2015, following the interpellation by the late Alojzy Skóra, we sent letters to all the banks operating in Bolesławiec, asking whether they would be interested in installing such an ATM,” Bolesławiec Deputy Mayor Iwona Mandżuk-Dudek explained. “The only bank that expressed interest was Bank Zachodni. The others claim that so many security measures are needed that they will not undertake the installation of an ATM.”

She added: “Bank Zachodni declared that by December 2015 it would specify whether it would install an ATM there. So far, we have received no response. We will follow up.”

Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman joined the discussion: “This is beyond our control; the bank has to want to do it. We can possibly help find a location. I think electronic payments will become widespread sooner than an ATM is installed there, but persistence pays off.”

We would add that if someone eventually installs an ATM at the 40th Anniversary Estate, it would be best if it were not a freestanding device. Otherwise, it could end up like the ATM outside the Intermarché supermarket. (We wrote about this in the article: They stole an ATM.)

We will return to this topic.
