Boleslawiec.org decided to publish a copy of the letter in which it asked about the costs of delegations involving Piotr Roman, Karol Stasik, Andrzej Chodyra and Jerzy Zieliński—the letter therefore concerned trips taken by the most important officials during the previous term. We asked Agnieszka Gergont about the costs before the local government elections; we also reminded her about the letter repeatedly. The spokesperson merely shrugged her shoulders. To this day, we have not received a response. The spokesperson’s superior, Piotr Roman, said in a public conversation with a Boleslawiec.org journalist after the most recent City Council session that Boleslawiec.org could file a lawsuit over the lack of a response. When the journalist pointed out that taxpayers would bear the costs of any unsuccessful trial, the mayor did not respond. Let us recall that the Press Law requires local government units to respond to press criticism and does not allow them to obstruct the gathering of material.

Boleslawiec.org journalists are surprised by the conduct of the spokesperson, who does not want to send consolidated information about events organised by the local government for Bolesławiec residents. The spokesperson refers people to a website where this data is published in an inaccessible format. The Access to Public Information Act requires such materials to be made available without unnecessary delay and in the form requested by the applicant.

At readers’ request, we present below a longer excerpt from statements by councillor Bogusław Nowak, the city’s press spokesperson Agnieszka Gergont, and mayor Piotr Roman concerning the sending of information. The recording was made officially, with a camera, during the most recent City Council session.
