The attic of tenements No. 3 and 4 in the Market Square (where Lody Americana is located) is on fire. Five fire service units are at the scene, along with emergency medical, power and gas services. Residents of this building and neighboring tenements were evacuated.
Update
As we read on the Bolesławiec municipal office website:
Medical assistance was provided to one person who had been exposed to smoke for an extended period. The operation was led by Junior Brigadier Piotr Pilarczyk, deputy commander of the PPSP in Bolesławiec, who reported that heavy smoke had appeared in the attics of three tenements because they are connected spaces in historic buildings.
The fire was located near a chimney in the attic of one tenement. During firefighting operations, a large part of the roof covering was dismantled. The rescue operation was significantly hampered by the narrow passages in the attics of the historic tenement houses.
The probable cause of the incident? As we read on the website of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, it was the ignition of the roof truss due to high temperatures from a leaking chimney flue.
