The competition, held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Bolesławiec, featured four league teams: Klub Siatkarski Jelenia Góra, UKS PCO-Volley Żarów, Vfb Görlitz e.V. and BTS Elektros Bolesławiec.
The Bolesławiec team took first place. The volleyball players from Jelenia Góra finished second, while the players from Żarów came third.
The tournament’s best player, and simultaneously its best attacker, was Rafał Wójtowicz of BTS Elektros Bolesławiec. The best receiver was Marcin Wójciak of UKS PCO-Volley Żarów, while the best server was Bartek Świdziński (KS Jelenia Góra).
“I am very happy with this victory,” Jacek Łuczkowski, president of the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie, said in an interview with “ii.” “This was supposed to be a purely training tournament, giving the substitutes a chance to play. And that is what happened. I am also pleased with the coach’s consistency in allowing the substitutes to play until the end.”
That day, the senior team players currently available to the club took to the court—three middle blockers are still undergoing training at the training ground. Despite this, after a hard-fought match and a very exciting finish, our team defeated the side from Żarów, taking first place in the tournament. “Żarów did not give up; it was a very closely fought match,” comments J. Łuczkowski. “We were also supported by the fans, who managed to come on Saturday morning and cheer for their team. That makes us happy.”
The tournament was co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec.
