The ongoing construction of the S3 expressway in Lower Silesia is opening up new opportunities for developing investment areas along the route. This is an investment opportunity for our city and for local and regional entrepreneurs.
During the meeting with representatives of companies, the prospects for developing the economic zone in Legnica, the support available to Polish and foreign investors, and the offer aimed especially at small and medium-sized businesses were discussed by: Rafał Jurkowlaniec, president of the Legnica Special Economic Zone, Tadeusz Krzakowski, Mayor of Legnica, Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy, and Piotr Borys, adviser in the Political Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Legnica Special Economic Zone comprises more than 1,200 hectares of investment land located in 18 subzones across Lower Silesia. During the zone’s 18 years of existence, investors have created more than 11,000 jobs here and completed investments with a total value exceeding 7 billion. Legnica itself has been chosen as a place to do business by companies including Faurecia, Winkelmann, Viessmann and Haerter.
In February this year, the Legnica Special Economic Zone launched the “S3 – The Road of Great Opportunities” project, which includes acquiring and promoting investment areas along the S3 expressway being built in Lower Silesia. Well-connected plots located in the centre of LSSE, in Legnica, are among the places most frequently presented to potential investors as locations for doing business.
“The aim is to create business incubation zones in the vicinity of S3,” stressed LSSE president Rafał Jurkowlaniec, adding that Legnica’s advantages in this context are major and obvious. The zone plans to expand its investment areas to include the site known as Legnica II and is also interested in the former airport grounds as a well-connected place for investment, with links to the country and Europe.
Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski also drew attention to the urgent need to complete, with the necessary involvement of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the city’s south-eastern bypass, which will further activate the LSSE investment areas and those in the airport area. “Let us join forces to carry out this task,” appealed the Mayor of Legnica.
