All invited guests received school badges at the entrance and thus became students in one large school class called Education, run by the Bolesławiec Urban Municipality.

The ceremony prepared by young people from Gymnasium No. 2 began with an artistic performance. The idea was to reverse the roles: the students on stage became teachers, while the teachers gathered in the audience became students. This role reversal served to strengthen bonds and was also an element of surprise for teachers from other schools celebrating their holiday that day. It showed that teachers can have a good time with their students and that a traditional holiday can be celebrated in an unconventional way, breaking with the routine commonly associated with this day.

The students on stage quizzed the teachers and encouraged them to recite, move, sing and dance together. The students—in their roles as teachers—carried out instructions as they would at school.

The host of the gathering, Piotr Roman, made no secret of his positive surprise at the program.

“I warmly congratulate you on showing us the school of our dreams on stage,” the mayor complimented the performers. “At the beginning of the performance, we were speechless; we had expected something… calmer. I admire the teachers’ ability to laugh at themselves, their joy and talent,” said Piotr Roman.

At the gathering, the mayor honored three female principals: Krystynę Gerwatowską (MPP No. 2), Jolantę Mienculewicz (MPP No. 4) and Katarzynę Regułę (MZS No. 1). The following teachers also received awards: Barbara Ostrowska, Anna Izba, Ryszard Posacki, Jarosław Leszczyński, Jolanta Borysiuk, Katarzyna Zięba, Monika Kalinowska, Edyta Kwiatkowska, Iwona Kalińska, Joanna Krajewska, Iwona Burdziłowska-Gordzicz, Barbara Dolecka, Justyna Rapa, Renata Piecha, Elżbieta Klich, Janina Mikołajczuk, Jadwiga Kuchciak, Irena Hetnar and Edyta Czernigiewicz.

The mayor listed the strengths of individual municipal schools and preschools. Their principals were asked to identify the advantages of the respective institutions. Municipal School Complex No. 1 at Dolne Młyny has the city’s best test results in the lower-secondary school exam; Municipal School Complex No. 2 on Jana Pawła has significant sporting achievements, with its basketball players ranking eighth in Poland; Municipal School Complex No. 3 (two buildings on Bankowa and Słowackiego) is an institution carrying out large-scale exchange programs as part of Erasmus+ and is a leader in reading promotion, with the “All of Poland Reads to Kids” program being implemented there. Primary School No. 4 discovers students’ talents and has significant achievements in the Kangaroo mathematics competition. Municipal Gymnasium No. 2 specializes in innovative pedagogical and teaching programs.

The mayor also emphasized the high qualifications of the city’s teachers. There are 419 teachers in the city, 257 of whom are certified teachers with extensive experience; more than one hundred of them have over 20 years in the profession.

On this important holiday for our educators, the editorial team of the Istotne.pl website and newspaper extends its warmest wishes to all teachers.
