Information about the Japanese company’s investment is currently secret. No one wants to confirm it. Unofficially, JVC is reportedly planning to invest approximately 100 million zlotys and employ more than 800 people. The factory will be built near Bolesławiec, close to the A4 motorway. Monitor production is scheduled to begin in 2008.
As Gazeta Wyborcza writes, the Japanese company made its decision conditional on the construction of another section of the A4 motorway (Zgorzelec–Krzyżowa), which it needs to transport televisions quickly to Western Europe, and on including areas in Bolesławiec in the economic zone, thanks to which JVC will receive substantial tax breaks.
JVC is one of the global leaders in the high-tech industry. The corporation was founded in 1927 in Yokohama. JVC employs 37,000 people in its facilities and laboratories worldwide. In Europe, it has only one factory, in the United Kingdom.
