The low-emission economy plan (PGN) is a strategic document that sets out the city’s directions for action in areas including public and private transport, street lighting, public buildings, improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
By preparing and implementing the PGN, Legnica will be able to contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the climate and energy package for 2020: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency, resulting in lower final energy consumption, and increasing the share of energy from renewable sources.
In addition to its benefits on a macro scale, the low-emission economy plan is intended to serve all city residents by improving air quality and supporting measures that help reduce final energy consumption.
In order to identify and diagnose the city’s needs as accurately as possible regarding the modernisation of heat sources and the thermal refurbishment of buildings, the contractor will conduct surveys among residents, managers of homeowners’ associations and housing cooperatives, and entrepreneurs. The completed questionnaires will provide the municipality with extremely important information about the amount of carbon dioxide emitted and energy consumption.
The project contractor will also organise a series of meetings with residents to familiarise them with the subject of the low-emission economy. The first will take place on 7 October at 4:00 p.m. at Primary School No. 2 (50 Głogowska Street), followed by another on 19 October at Primary School No. 1 (Kamienna Street).
Further information can be obtained from the Department of Environment and Waste Management, 8 Słowiański Square, tel. 76 72 12 347, and from the project contractor at 32 326 78 16.
