At the end of August, SLD MP Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska visited our town. During the meeting, it was decided that she would stand for election—this time from the United Left list—in the upcoming elections to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland from constituency no. 1 (the counties of Bolesławiec, Głogów, Jawor, Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra, Legnica, Lubań, Lubin, Lwówek Śląski, Polkowice, Zgorzelec and Złotoryja).

A resident of our county, Alicja Janiec, will also stand for election to the Sejm from the same list and constituency. She is head of the Active Women’s Association, initiator of the “Village of Flavours” in Lipiany (Bolesławiec gmina), leader of the Lower Silesian Village Renewal programme and chairwoman of the Forum for Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women.
