Applications for the “zDolny Śląsk” Scholarship Competition have been extended until September 10, 2015. Talented residents of Lower Silesia with academic, artistic, sporting or… community achievements can compete for 50 annual scholarships worth between 2,500 and 3,500 złotys.

The International Education Foundation – the organizer of the scholarship competition – decided to extend the application deadline to give a chance to many students who learned about the competition late or have only recently returned from vacation. Applications in the academic, sporting, artistic and community activity categories should be sent to the Foundation’s address in Wrocław: ul. Zielińskiego 38, 53-534 Wrocław.

The detailed rules of the scholarship competition are described on the website of the International Education Foundation at www.zdolnyslask.fem.org.pl, in the “current competition” section. The application form can also be downloaded there. The results will be announced at the end of September. In October, the winners will take part in a ceremonial anniversary Scholarship Gala.

The “zDolny Śląsk” Scholarship Competition has been organized since 2002 – as part of the Lower Silesian Talent Support System – by the International Education Foundation, and is funded, among other sources, by support from the Self-Government of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and money raised by the Foundation from 1% tax deductions benefiting public benefit organizations.

In previous editions of the competition, more than 1,000 students from Lower Silesia have already received assistance. More than 1,200,000 złotys has been spent on scholarships. The scholarships helped the laureates continue their education, achieve further successes, provided an incentive for further development and strengthened their belief in their own abilities.

Since 2007, the competition has been supported by the so-called Pearl Catchers, meaning community organizations from several counties of Lower Silesia gathered around the International Education Foundation. They can help with completing applications. Their list can be found on the Foundation’s website.
