Following the promising 2014/2015 season, which began with the organization of Bolesławiec’s first-ever Polish Senior Championships and Paulina Stojanowska’s silver medal at the event, LMKS Gladius is beginning its 16th season of Olympic Taekwondo training and competition.

Looking back at the previous season, apart from the aforementioned Polish Senior Championships medal, Gladius athletes unfortunately did not manage to reach the podium at the Polish Championships in the Junior categories, where they only secured scoring places from fifth to eighth, or in the Under-23 category.

Apart from the main competitions, however, several dozen medals were won at international events, including those in the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. This is mainly thanks to the youngest Taekwondo athletes. Gladius is now preparing to compete with a fairly strong 12-member team at the Polish Junior Cadets Championships in October.

For another consecutive year, the club was honored with the award for the best Taekwondo club in the voivodeship. In addition, based on their sporting and academic achievements, the club’s athletes were recipients of many local awards in both science and sport.

The club regularly took part in charitable initiatives such as Szlachetna Paczka, as well as local and community events such as the Ceramic Parade. In addition to competitions and community activities, Gladius also regularly organizes winter and summer recreation for its members. During this year’s two-week summer camp in July, besides the scheduled activities, the group bonded with a group of children and young people from Ukraine whose parents had been killed on the Maidan. In addition to joint activities and a demonstration training session, a football match was also played.

Starting this September, Gladius also honors the Large Family Card in all areas of its activity. Soon, the club’s details—as the first organization connected with sport and recreation in Bolesławiec—will be available on the official rodzina.gov.pl program website, where more information can be obtained. Applications for the card can also be submitted at MOPS Bolesławiec.

The club has operated at Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec for 15 years and in just a few days will begin recruiting for its children’s and youth sections, as well as classes for adults and parents. Starting this year, recruitment is also being conducted at the Oxpress Bolesławiec school and preschool complex (this recruitment is for children attending the Oxpress school and preschool complex).

Training sessions are held three times a week, and registration can be completed in person from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the hall in the Primary School No. 4 building on M. Brody Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at the Oxpress Bolesławiec school and preschool complex’s office, or by sending a message to the club’s fan page at: www.facebook.com/taekwondo.boleslawiec You are also welcome to view the club’s photo gallery on its fan page and learn more about this exceptional extracurricular activities offer.
