In the third-round match of the Lower Silesian fourth division, BKS Bolesławiec lost at home to Pogoń Oleśnica 2–3 (2–1). The goals for our team were scored by Janczyszyn and Dzięgleski. This was our team’s third consecutive defeat.

Unfortunately, we essentially lost Wednesday’s match through our own fault, and when leading 2–1 it was our duty to “finish off” the opponent when the opportunity arose. There were chances to do so, but at times we lacked composure and occasionally precision.

Wednesday’s match could be enjoyable to watch. Neither team was bothered by the considerable heat, and we witnessed an open game with no shortage of chances. BKS Bolesławiec started the match better, launching an assault on the opponents’ goal from the outset. In the second minute, Długosz showed well near the penalty spot, but the BKS player’s shot was too weak and was easily saved by the goalkeeper.

Długosz had another good chance in the seventh minute. Janczyszyn delivered a good pass, and the popular Kaka found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Unfortunately, our player’s shot went just wide of the post. BKS Bolesławiec’s pressure was rewarded in the 15th minute, when Długosz’s shot reached Janczyszyn, who had no trouble putting it into the net and giving BKS a 1–0 lead.

From that moment, Pogoń Oleśnica threw themselves into recovering the deficit and were rewarded quite quickly. In the 23rd minute, Bochnia’s defence prevented us from conceding, but two minutes later, after a free-kick cross and a shot by Matyja, the score became 1–1. Conceding did not break the BKS Bolesławiec players, who responded in the best possible way. In the 28th minute, Długosz again made an impression on the left, and Dzięgleski put the ball into Pogoń Oleśnica’s net to restore BKS Bolesławiec’s lead at 2–1.

Four minutes later, Wojciechowski produced a fine header, but the visiting goalkeeper was alert and made a good save. We therefore went into the break leading 2–1, with the clear objective for the second half being to score a third goal that would give us a safe cushion over the opponents.

The course of the second half showed that this was possible, but we lacked an effective finish to the chances we created. In the 53rd minute, Bochnia was again forced to make a save, but from then on BKS began hunting for a third goal. In the 58th minute, after Pogoń Oleśnica’s defenders unsuccessfully attempted to play offside, Wojciechowski found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the BKS player’s shot struck the post.

In the 62nd minute, after the Pogoń goalkeeper came off his line, we had an open goal, but no shot followed and once again we were left frustrated. The score became 2–2 in the 72nd minute. Koselski opted for a free-kick shot, and the ball ended up in Bochnia’s goal. Three minutes later, BKS Bolesławiec had another excellent chance. After outmanoeuvring three opponents, Janczyszyn was practically alone in front of the empty goal, but he failed to put us back in front.

As is often the case in such situations, if you cannot finish off your opponent, you may pay a heavy price. Unfortunately, that principle applied to Wednesday’s match: in the 88th minute, after a well-worked move, Pogoń Oleśnica put the ball into our net and set the final score at 3–2 to the visitors. Kotwa was the scorer.Kotwa.

Unfortunately, although our team’s play looked decidedly better than in the match against Piast Nowa Ruda, once again we had to swallow the bitterness of defeat. Defensive mistakes and an inability to convert the chances we created meant that we suffered our third consecutive defeat and, with no points, occupy last place in the league table. Let us hope that our players and their coach quickly find a remedy for our problems and, with the fans’ support, earn the eagerly awaited first points in the next match against Orzeł Ząbkowice Śląskie (2 September, 5:00 p.m.).

Fortunately, BKS Bolesławiec can count on the support of companies and individuals who help the Bolesławiec club. The mast on which the club flag proudly flies was renovated by “SKOR”, owned by Adam Głębocki. The club’s sponsors have also been joined by “Auto-Naprawa David” (56A Lubańska Street), owned by Dawid Duras, as well as the “Czarny Kot” restaurant (15 Zygmunta Augusta Street), owned by Aldona Neuman. The club is also supported by Jarosław Sobków, father of Eryk, a Zagłębie Lubin player and BKS academy graduate.
