BKS Bolesławiec did not have the IV-league inauguration at Spółdzielcza they had hoped for. On Saturday (22 August), the visitors from Nowa Ruda were the better team and deservedly took all three points.
The first half consisted of constant attacks on the hosts’ goal, and it was only thanks to Bartosz Bochnia’s alertness that the score remained goalless for so long. Piast Nowa Ruda repeatedly ventured into our penalty area and created chances to score. The visitors’ pressure was rewarded in the 35th minute, when, following an attack down the right side, Piast Nowa Ruda took a 1–0 lead through a goal by Kamil Kowalski, Unfortunately, our boys were unable to find their style and were merely a backdrop for their opponents in this part of the match. BKS Bolesławiec created practically no danger in front of Piast’s goal, and the visiting goalkeeper was unemployed. A large number of mistakes and inaccuracies made our play disjointed, while any attempts to attack were snuffed out at source by the Piast Nowa Ruda players. We went into the break 0–1 down, but among the supporters of the Bolesławiec team there was still a glimmer of hope that the course of the match could be reversed.
BKS Bolesławiec looked slightly better in the second half, but the visitors still dictated the course of play. When Marcin Głowacki was sent off in the 62nd minute after receiving a second yellow card and, consequently, a red card, it became clear that achieving a positive result would be extremely difficult. When Ernest Polak took advantage of a lapse of concentration in our penalty area in the 69th minute and put Piast 2–0 ahead, the match was practically over. Fortunately, despite the unfavorable score, our boys did not give up and pushed to score at least one goal. We succeeded in the 82nd minute, when, after a shot by Emmanuel Ohagwu, the ball reached Piotr Dzięgleski, who placed a precise shot by the post to reduce the margin of defeat and set the final score at 1–2 to Piast Nowa Ruda.
Piast Nowa Ruda’s victory on Saturday evening was deserved, while the good impression BKS Bolesławiec had left after the match in Głogów disappeared somewhere. BKS Bolesławiec was unable to find its style, and the number of mistakes made by our team prevented us from putting up an equal fight against a better-performing opponent. We must draw conclusions from the defeat as quickly as possible, because on Wednesday we will host Pogoń Oleśnica at Spółdzielcza. BKS Bolesławiec – Piast Nowa Ruda 1–2 (0–1)
