The walking routes are always connected with the history, architecture and cultural space of the city, as well as the biographies of people who were born here or whose lives became connected with Kowary.
The programme of the upcoming walk – 22 August – includes, among other things:
- admiring Maciek, a 300-year-old spruce
- a rest at the so-called Stone Bench
- a walk along the former Kamienna Góra route.
Participants will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the car park by the Carrefour supermarket in Kowary, on Staszica Street. Participants should read the walking regulations available at: www.kowary.pl/pl/aktualnosci/zapraszamy-na-pierwszy-wakacyjny-spacer-po-kowarach-z-przewodnikiem.
The walks will be led by local enthusiast Bernard Utrata. Participation in the walk is free of charge.
PLEASE NOTE
The walks always require hiking footwear. The organisers ask participants to take water or other drinks and, if necessary, provisions with them. Remember to bring a head covering as well.
Main attractions along the route of walk 8:
- Maciek Spruce
One of the most impressive spruces in Polish forests. Our Kowary natural monument is named Maciek and will impress everyone with its circumference. - Stone Bench
A resting place on the trail from Skalnik towards the pass below Średnica. The granite bench may not be comfortable, but it is certainly attractive. - Former Kamienna Góra Route
A road that was once the only connection between Kowary and Kamienna Góra. In the past, stagecoaches and carts drawn by horses or oxen travelled along this route. Today, pilgrims heading towards Santiago travel this road.
