Last weekend, the Polish Youth Olympics in Triathlon were held in Konopiska near Częstochowa. Poland’s leading triathletes in the youth junior category (ages 16–17) gathered there to compete in this highly exhausting sport over the Super Sprint distance—600 m swimming, 15 km cycling and a 3 km run—in temperatures approaching 40 degrees. The group naturally included the accomplished athlete from Bolesławiec, Klaudia Petters.
Klaudia performed excellently, staying in the leading four-athlete group from the very beginning of the race. The group set a pace that the other competitors could not maintain. Ultimately, after a grueling run under the full sun, our athlete secured second place, earning the title of Polish vice-champion.
An additional reward for the medalists in the individual event was selection to the Polish National Team.
Special thanks go to Mr. Tadeusz Apanasewicz, the owner of the bicycle shop on Komuny Paryskiej Street, for perfectly preparing the bicycle for the competition.
