Bogusław Nowak attacked the mayor, the director of BOK-MCC and the head of Via Sutetica in his characteristically emotional manner, using unrestrained language. He called the mayor a coward and accused all of them of failing to mention at the conference that Gliniada would not take place during this year’s festival. He told the mayor that he was abolishing Gliniada with kid gloves and for political reasons, while the employees and director of BOK-MCC were unable to organize the Ceramic Festival with class. However, he did not even mention that he had rejected Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska’s offer, after asking her to finance his project.
This year, Bogusław Nowak wanted PLN 45,000 from the city to organize the approximately one-and-a-half-hour parade. After submitting his offer, he did not respond when he was offered PLN 15,000—PLN 30,000 less than he had demanded. At the conference, he admitted that his behavior had been interpreted as “throwing a tantrum,” which he of course denied.
Nowak’s accusations Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska called untrue. In response, Mayor Piotr Roman invited Bogusław Nowak to join a cross-border parade. He also explained to his opponent, in a very elegant manner, that companies bidding to provide services for the festival—catering, an amusement park and so on—ask not about Gliniada, but about the bands that will perform at the festival. Those bands attract the most visitors over several days, rather than Gliniada attracting them for less than two hours on a single day.
The least to say was Mariusz Lickiewicz, head of Via Sudetica. This year, during Saturday’s parade, he wants to organize a procession of people painted with clay. He simply will not call it Gliniada, because Bogusław Nowak has registered the event’s name and, during the conference, threatened that Warsaw lawyers would destroy anyone who tried to copy his event.
