The Boleslawiec.org website conducted a four-day poll on declared support for candidates for Mayor of Bolesławiec. From Friday to Monday, 357 people voted in the poll. Boleslawiec.org readers identified incumbent mayor Piotr Roman, representing Law and Justice (34% of the votes), as the favorite in the November election. Close behind were Karol Stasik of Civic Platform (25% of the votes) and Józef Burniak of the Democratic Left Alliance (23%). Support for Wiesław Stefanik, representing Ziemia Bolesławiecka (the Democratic Party), amounted to 5%.

According to the poll results, 13% of people do not intend to vote in the election. Votes were counted using a mechanism designed to eliminate so-called “multiple voting.” The safeguards used made it possible to present a reasonably reliable picture of the political sympathies of Boleslawiec.org readers.

The results of the online poll do not reflect the exact electoral preferences of all residents of Bolesławiec, but they do provide some picture of the situation on the eve of the mayoral election. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that the incumbent mayor’s lead over Karol Stasik and Józef Burniak is not very large. The gap between the Civic Platform and Democratic Left Alliance candidates is even smaller—only 2%.

The poll results also indicate that there will be a second round, in which Piotr Roman and Karol Stasik will probably face each other. If that were to happen, the deciding votes would belong to representatives of the Democratic Left Alliance and the Democratic Party. If Piotr Roman and Józef Burniak advanced to the second round, Civic Platform would hold the deciding influence. The situation in Bolesławiec’s electoral market is interesting. Interestingly, in another poll on support for parties (electoral committees), Civic Platform wins decisively—not Law and Justice, from which Piotr Roman originates.
