On Friday (3 July), the General Reporting and Election Meeting of Members of BKS Bobrzanie Club was held in the conference room of the District Office. The incumbent President of BKS Bobrzanie – Adam Fornal – presented a report on the club’s activities. The club’s board was granted a vote of approval for the past season. The new board consists of: Mirosław Lik, Dariusz Mielcarek, Mieczysław Gałkiewicz (existing officials), and Michał Lis – an entrepreneur, friend of the club, sponsor of new kits for BKS, and owner of Auto Fox – a transport and freight-forwarding company.
The former BKS president, Adam Fornal, thanked everyone for their cooperation and expressed hope that the talks he had initiated with the city authorities would have a positive effect for the club in the future. In the near future, the board will choose a new president to lead the club in the upcoming season. Friday’s meeting was also supposed to include a vote on returning to the name BKS Bolesławiec (instead of the current BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec). Unfortunately, there was not enough attendance to vote on this item.
Friday’s meeting was dominated not so much by the election of new authorities and the vote on the approval as by a discussion about the club’s day-to-day operation. Donat Nowak drew attention to the drying-out pitch at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street. According to the BKS supporter and club member, if no one takes care of at least watering the main pitch during hot weather, it could become necessary to renovate it, resulting in high costs. Donat Nowak explained that the pitch is used not only by BKS footballers, but also for various competitions involving children from all over Bolesławiec. The MOSiR director present at the meeting – Zbigniew Kowalczyk – admitted that he was responsible for the condition of the stadium pitch and that it would certainly “not go to waste”.
The discussion also addressed, among other things, the costs BKS incurs for using facilities managed by MOSiR. BKS supporters and members believe that the city should provide more support to the club – rather than “grant subsidies and then take them back in the form of various fees for using municipal facilities”. A problem highlighted by club supporter and fan Piotr Bieńkowski is the poor technical condition of the changing rooms and toilets at the Water and Sports Centre on Spacerowa Street.
Various sporting competitions are often held at the Water and Sports Centre, and its facilities are used by more than just footballers. In addition to Zbigniew Kowalczyk, a representative of the city office – Krzysztof Jakubczyc – also listened to the discussion. He assured the participants that he would present the issues raised to Mayor Piotr Roman.
