The aim of the competition is to present children’s visual sensitivity to the reality around them (exhibition).
In the age of the digitisation of photography, when recording what is “beside” us is accessible and easy with devices such as mobile phones, adults have the opportunity to see the world from the perspective of a very young person. To learn about their way of seeing and framing an image, their sensitivity, and what they find most interesting in their immediate surroundings.
It will also be an excellent opportunity for the young participants to get to know one another. The holiday period is the best time—free from school activities—to devote to the wonderful pastime that photography can be.
The subject matter of the photographs is unrestricted. The competition aims to identify particularly talented participants who create photographic images using simple digital devices, as well as to build awareness of images.
The organiser of the “Beside Me” Photography Competition is Jeleniogórskie Centrum Kultury. The competition’s co-organiser, responsible for publishing informational materials online and providing substantive support in selecting the photographs, is the “Jeleniogórska Strefa Fotografii” Association.
The competition is organised in cooperation with Książnica Karkonoska in Jelenia Góra. Details on the JCK website.
