The creators and administrators of www.boleslawiec.org are pleased to present the new version of the website. The new Boleslawiec.org is not only a new look. Above all, it offers greater functionality and clarity for users. Both the previous and current versions of the website are the editorial team’s original project. The new Boleslawiec.org meets the latest standards for websites.

A little history

Boleslawiec.org is an online news service for the city and Bolesławiec County. It has existed for more than two years. Until now, the website published the latest local news, previews and reports from events that were important to our city and region. Information for the website was obtained in various ways. Some was sent by different institutions, some was submitted by our readers, and some we gathered ourselves. Almost every item of information was illustrated with photographs. This resulted from our assumption that a photograph is an integral part of a news item. On Boleslawiec.org, users could also comment on events and exchange views on the discussion forum. The website offered the opportunity to watch programs from the Local Television station "Azart-Sat". These included both daily events and thematic programs (culinary, fashion and beauty, and historical). From the very beginning, the website was a registered press title and was commercial by design.

Boleslawiec.org has more and more Readers

Boleslawiec.org reaches an increasingly broad audience. Opinions on news items and statements on the forum show that the website’s Readers and Users are not only young and very young people, as is usually the case. For approximately a year, the website has operated a fully automated classified-ads system. Many people use it. The Jobs section is particularly popular. From the very beginning, the website has allowed Readers to publish anonymous opinions without prior registration or logging in. Boleslawiec.org has become a permanent part of the Bolesławiec media landscape. Many institutions, organizations and private individuals cooperate with the website on a regular basis. They include the Bolesławiec Fire Service, the Municipal Police, Local Television "Azart-Sat", the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, the Youth City Council, Gazeta Wojewódzka and Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Dzieci. We have been and remain the media patron of many events. Several dozen Bolesławiec companies advertise on our website. Advertisers are becoming convinced of the growing effectiveness of online advertising. Boleslawiec.org is the only website of its kind in the city that fully pays for itself. We receive no subsidies from any institutions or offices. We are maintained exclusively by advertising. We are also active in film education. The website has co-organized filmmaking workshops and helps young people produce amateur films.

Boleslawiec.org today

We are honored to present all Readers with a new, even more user-friendly version of www.boleslawiec.org. It is the result of more than two years of operating the previous version of the portal, gathering experience, and drawing conclusions from its successes and failures. The new website emphasizes practicality, functionality, clarity and interactivity. Boleslawiec.org meets the highest technical standards applicable to websites. The portal’s authors tried to place on the home page everything a user might want to have readily available. The Essentials section (in the bottom-right corner of the home page) draws attention; there, users can check, for example, train timetables, lottery results or the weather forecast. The main menu is designed to provide the fastest possible access to the selected section. The choice of colors was deliberate. The latest advertisements and comments appear on the right. Below them are previews of upcoming events and festivities, as well as the most interesting pages operating within our domain. On the left, we publish the latest and archived news.

A new feature for Readers is the ability to vote in polls, comment on events and exchange opinions in real time. Previously, all opinions awaited a moderator’s approval before publication. Users often had to wait a long time for their opinions to appear. This was because they had to be placed on the server manually. Now, opinions will be added automatically. This does not mean, however, that a reader who writes and publishes a comment remains anonymous. Each comment will automatically display a number (IP), that is, the number of the computer used to publish the comment. This security measure is intended to protect Readers from rudeness, unfortunately ubiquitous online. In the new version of the website, it will still be possible to watch programs from Local Television "Azart-Sat". Throughout September, further new surprises will be presented on the website. We will report on them as they appear.

On behalf of the editorial team and the people and institutions cooperating with the website, we would like to thank all our Readers. Thank you for visiting us, reading our content and sharing your opinions. We hope that the changes we have introduced will make life easier for all of us. Visit www.boleslawiec.org.
