Last Friday, gardeners planted the flower beds at Niepodległości Roundabout. Earlier, colorful plants had decorated the streetlamps in the city center.

This year, the city bought more than 32,000 flower plants representing nearly 40 species. They include, among others, 10,000 sweet alyssum plants, 5,000 marigolds, 3,000 scarlet sage plants, and more than a dozen species of wildflowers—sea thrift, lupine, anemone and others. All the plants cost more than PLN 78,000. They are primarily colorful flowers that can withstand changing weather conditions, such as strong sunlight, temperature drops and drought. As a result, they will please our eyes until winter. Planting in various parts of the city will take about a week.

“We are currently creating somewhat different compositions,” says Henryka Zdziech, the municipal gardener. “They are made from typically rural plants known from gardens. They are very fashionable now, and we are bringing them into the limelight.”
