At the competition, held on Saturday, May 23, in the Sports Park hall (Złotnicza Street) in Jelenia Góra, teams including the following faced one another:
- IKS Jelenia Góra
- Gimbusy Jelenia Góra
- BTS Elektros Bolesławiec 1
- BTS Elektros Bolesławiec 2
- UKS Dekoria Świdnica
- JKS Spartakus Jawor.
The match for third place was played by the cadets of BTS Elektros Bolesławiec 2 (coached by Damian Śliwiński, a player on BTS’s senior team) and IKS Jelenia Góra. In the final, BTS Elektros’s first team faced Dekoria Świdnica. In both cases, the score was the same: 1:1. Small points decided that both Bolesławiec teams suffered defeat (because of time constraints, no tie-breaks were played).
BTS Elektros Bolesławiec 1 is coached by Michał Sobczyszyn, who suffered a serious injury this week. “We wish him a speedy recovery,” Jacek Łuczkowski, president of the Bolesławiec Volleyball Association, told “ii”. This Saturday, Michał Sobczyszyn was replaced by Tomasz Włoszczyński, the everyday captain of the BTS Elektros senior team.
“We train young players so that they can later play in the first team, while our seniors achieve the best possible results,” Jacek Łuczkowski explains. “Some of our players can play both in the cadet and junior teams, while others can play both in the junior and senior teams. The idea is for the club to function as one organism. The coaches must cooperate with one another. This approach should produce the desired results.”
BTS Bolesławiec also trains children from Bolesławiec Municipality. In Bożejowice, BTS vice-president Krzysztof Mosiądz is recruiting young volleyball players who will form a municipal youth team in the future. “We invite sixth-grade primary school students and first-year middle school students. Residents of Bolesławiec Municipality, but not only them,” the association’s president encourages.
We will write soon about what is happening with the BTS Elektros senior team.
