Ania and Krzyś are residents of Bolesławiec who struggle with their illnesses every day. Ania has permanent impaired vision in her right eye, a rare metabolic disorder—hypobetalipoproteinemia—and a postural defect. She wears a contact lens and glasses. Krzyś is an autistic child who has epilepsy, a heart rhythm disorder, a postural defect, low muscle tone and limited speech. Like Ania, he has hypobetalipoproteinemia. He is under the care of rehabilitation specialists, a speech therapist, a psychologist and a special education teacher.

The siblings are under the care of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute and specialist doctors from Wrocław. Both follow an expensive diet and take unreimbursed vitamin supplements from abroad.
