Work to adapt the horizontal and vertical road markings on Kościuszki and Piłsudskiego streets is nearing completion. Two-way traffic will be restored there from Friday. Less than a year ago, as part of preparations for introducing the new traffic organization, the city authorities commissioned the relocation of parking spaces on the one-way section of Kościuszki Street so that the road could be adapted to the planned changes.
The new traffic organization for this part of the city centre will make things considerably easier for drivers, particularly those entering the city from Germany via the Jana Pawła II Bridge. From Friday, anyone wishing to reach the city centre or its northern part—for example, the Zachód housing estate or the hospital—will no longer have to drive around a substantial part of Zgorzelec.
Introducing the new traffic organization also concludes the final stage of preparations for establishing a paid parking zone in Zgorzelec city centre, an initiative that has been discussed for some time.
City officials apologize for any inconvenience and ask drivers to exercise caution. For some time, warning signs will remind drivers of the changes.
