Mr Andrzej Dutkowski sat in the front row of the audience and applauded the young artists, then handed out certificates and prizes at the end.
Those who were not there should regret it. It turned out that the municipal schools conceal real gems within their walls—musical and acting talents. Yes, acting talents, because the participants had to demonstrate not only a good musical ear and correct pronunciation, but also an appropriate interpretation of the song, showing that they understood the text they were singing.
Children from five schools came to Bożejowice: from Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka, Kraśnik Dolny, Kruszyn, Ocice and Żeliszów. The youngest hosts, the first-grade pupils of ZSP in Bożejowice, welcomed everyone with the song “Guten Morgen.” They were followed by participants from grades I–III, who sang a total of eight songs, and pupils from grades IV–VI, who also performed eight songs. The entire repertoire included four German-language songs; the remaining pieces were in English. The high artistic standard and the audience’s exceptionally positive response surprised even the organizers themselves. Everyone enjoyed the event, including the youngest members of the audience—the preschoolers, who also showed their delight. We laughed at some of the performances, while others brought tears of emotion to more than one eye. The jury therefore faced a difficult task, and its deliberations lasted quite a long time.
In the younger group, a distinction was awarded to the first-grade class from Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka, which sang “The Bus Song,” sticking their heads through the roof of a cardboard bus. The passengers of this remarkable vehicle were: Noemi Karczmarczyk, Michał Koban, Marcel Krupka, Martyna Kwaśniewska, Martyna Najdek, Ewelina Rumińska, Nikola Śmiałowska, Joel Szelągowski, Kacper Warmus and Martyna Wolińska.
Third place went to Wiktoria Jaźwicz for performing the song “Six red apples.” Second place was awarded to the team from Kraśnik Dolny for the song “Vier Jahreszeiten” (Paulina Mazur, Eryk Jadczuk, Milena Wiśniewska and Oliwia Greniuk), while Milena Uznańska and Julia Kwapisz from Kruszyn won first place with the song “Kiss the stars.” They not only sang excellently, but also performed an interesting choreographic routine.
In the older participants’ group, the distinction went to Magdalena Kubuś from Kraśnik Dolny for her beautiful performance of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Third place was won by Julia Nowacka, a fourth-grade pupil at ZSP in Bożejowice, who accompanied herself on a keyboard while singing “Can you feel the love tonight?” Second place went to Anna Bogdańska and Katarzyna Piecyk from Kraśnik Dolny. They demonstrated acting abilities and complete ease on stage. They presented a way to propose in the song “Marry You.” First place was won by Jagoda Kurowska and Magdalena Domańska from Bożejowice. They enchanted the audience with a beautiful performance of the song from “The Lion King”—“Can you feel the love tonight?” We thank the teachers and parents for helping prepare the children for their performance, and we congratulate the participants and wish them continued success!
The sponsors of the prizes for the contest participants were the Bolesławiec Municipal Office, the Parents’ Council at ZSP in Bożejowice, Macmillan Publishing and Nowa Era Publishing.
