The children watched educational films from the series “Once Upon a Time... Life – White Blood Cells”, “Taste Buds and Teeth” and “Bacteria and Viruses: What Is the Difference?”. Discussions reinforcing the knowledge they had acquired were also held, as was an art competition that attracted great interest.

Sixty-eight children aged 5 to 12 took part in the competition “What do microbes look like, what diseases do they spread, where do they lurk and lie in wait for life?”. The entries were assessed in various age categories. The winners received a small treat as a prize.

Participants in the winter holiday activities at the Municipal Library in Zgorzelec handled topics related to preventing infectious diseases very well. During the quiz, they demonstrated knowledge that many adults might envy.

The State District Sanitary Inspector in Zgorzelec thanks Ms Barbara Szutenbach, Genowefa Leszczak for their cooperation and warns against hasty treatment of diseases caused by viruses and bacteria, as there are many differences in treatment in the two cases. Effective and appropriate treatment prescribed by a doctor and followed according to their recommendations will help us recover. Certainly, one should not try to administer antibiotic therapy independently or pressure a doctor into prescribing an antibiotic.
