Animal keepers spent several weeks working intensively to address the little bear’s eating disorder. While his brother Yang ate what their mother recommended, Ying stubbornly insisted that he would eat only bamboo.

The problem was that bamboo alone was not enough: a growing bear must provide its body with much more nutritional value. A check weighing showed that Ying weighed only half as much as his brother. This was sufficient reason to take the youngster behind the scenes, give him special care and spoil him with treats that were not bamboo shoots.

After two weeks of being given a mash made from special panda flour, minerals and vitamins mixed with grated vegetables and fruit, Ying’s weight increased by one-third. He was able to leave quarantine.

The red panda brothers Ying and Yang, born in 2014, moved in together again. This time, however, not in their parents’ enclosure, because their parents are busy planning their next offspring.
