Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska is an MP from our constituency. On Wednesday, January 7, she was a guest at a New Year’s meeting of members and supporters of the Democratic Left Alliance. The MP spoke about her everyday work in the Sejm, as well as the work of parliamentary offices.

“More and more people come to me. This is a normal trend, but I do not know whether it is a good one. People believe that state or local-government officials will not help them. For them, an MP is the last resort. However, the matters people come with cannot always be dealt with by an MP,” Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska told us.

“Sometimes, after meetings with people who come with difficult matters, I feel as if I have been put through a meat grinder. This happens when I identify with these problems and empathize. Most often, however, people ask me to find them a job and think that I will arrange it for them as if by magic. My own son has been unable to find a job for several months after graduating. Perhaps it sounds foolish—how could it be that I cannot arrange a job for him? But that is how it is,” Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska assured.

The MP declared that she likes Bolesławiec very much and feels sentimental about our town: “I first went to a summer camp in elementary school, right here in Bolesławiec.”

Among the SLD members attending the meeting were, among others, Stanisław Chwojnicki, Janusz Latoch, Piotr Hetel, as well as the heads of the rural Bolesławiec municipality, Andrzej Dutkowski, and the Warta Bolesławiecka municipality, Mirosław Haniszewski.
