This year saw the fourth edition of the “Senior-Friendly Local Government 2014 – Friendly Administration” competition, organized by the Parliamentary Group for Older People. Its aim is to promote the creation of integrated programs to counteract the social exclusion of seniors in local and regional communities, taking into account, in the operation of public administration, the life circumstances of older people and the needs arising from them.

The competition was open to local governments that, in 2012–2014, implemented or were implementing programs or projects raising the administration’s awareness of the needs of older people and providing specific solutions concerning how it operates in this area.

The submitted projects were evaluated by a competition committee comprising representatives of the Parliamentary Group for Older People, the Association of Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland, the Association of Polish Counties, the Association of Polish Cities, the Association of Rural Communes, the “Publicus” publishing house and the editorial team of the fortnightly “Wspólnota”.
