The Intergenerational Recreational and Sports Festival “Sport Brings Generations Together”, submitted by STS LKS Fortuna Obora to the Minister of Sport’s Sportowa Gwiazda 2014 competition (98 events were submitted), was judged by the national jury to be the second-best in Poland! Earlier, this two-day festival, organised by the club from Obora in cooperation with Szklary Górne Primary School, proved unrivalled in Lower Silesia, qualifying for the national final.

This excellent result was achieved, among other things, thanks to the commitment of many people and the financial support of Lubin Rural Commune and numerous sponsors.

“This is a great success for the organisers of this intergenerational recreational and sports event,” says Jan Chełpa, president of STS LKS Fortuna Obora. “I would like to thank Lubin Rural Commune and personally its head, Irena Rogowska, as well as everyone who helped organise this event: headmistress Elżbieta Piasny, teachers and parents of pupils at Szklary Górne Primary School, the “Arka” Abstinence Club in Lubin and its president, Marek Kasperski, OSP Szklary Górne, the police, village councils and village council boards, KGW, GOK in Raszówka, as well as the sponsors and everyone else without whose support such a success would not have been possible. Special thanks to Mr Marek Słota from Obora.”

The Sportowa Gwiazda competition is a new initiative of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the National Association of LZS and the provincial LZS organisations, aimed at selecting the best projects promoting sport for all in rural communities.

The national stage was scheduled to be decided on 15 November this year at the National Stadium. Details on the Lubin Rural Commune website.
