On Saturday, November 8, the Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie Elektros team hosted ULKS Ogień Żmigród. The Bolesławiec players won the first two sets. Unfortunately, toward the end of the third set, complacency crept into our players’ ranks, and the next two sets went to the visitors.

Fortunately, in the tie-break BTS Elektros showed its class once again, winning the set 15–7 and the entire match 3:2 (25:20, 25:21, 20:25, 23:25, 15:7).

Our team is coached by Krzysztof Mosiądz. The BTS Elektros vs Ogień Żmigród match was accompanied by a hip-hop dance performance by the Canon group from the Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury-Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki. The group’s instructor is Krystyna Abramowicz.

Jacek Łuczkowski, president of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie:

You do not judge a winning team. We have a two-week break, and during this time the players will do some work, because there is room for improvement. There is an old volleyball truth that for a team that wins two sets, the third is the worst. That is when relaxation often sets in.

In the third set we were leading 17:15. At that crucial moment, the team should have shown true concentration and held on to the result until the end.

The positive thing is that we won the tie-break comfortably, but matches like this should be won 3:0. Every victory should be celebrated, nevertheless, the players must realize that volleyball is played to three winning sets.

Krzysztof Mosiądz, team coach and vice-president of BTS:

After two defeats (against Złotoryja and Syców), we needed a win to recover, show what we could do and prove to ourselves that we were capable of winning. Recently, we have also had problems with the squad. Numerous injuries affected our players, which had a major impact on the entire team. Tomek Włoszczyński did not play in Saturday’s match; he suffered a knee injury in Syców.

As for the result, every win is pleasing, but I am not entirely satisfied with the style in which we won this match, and the players probably are not either. Once again, we were unable to hold on to a hard-earned lead toward the end. Instead of calmly finishing the match 3:0, we make life difficult for ourselves by introducing tension into the game. We slept through the end of the third set, and it came back to haunt us. In the next two sets we began playing nervously and making many mistakes. Fortunately, in the fifth set we recovered and won it decisively. We did not manage to win all three points, so we have to be happy with two.

In two weeks we are going to Góra. Although it is the last team in the table, it will not be easy. I do not want the previous season’s story to repeat itself. We have two weeks to prepare thoroughly for the match and bring home three points for sure.

Tomasz Włoszczyński, captain of our volleyball team (in Saturday’s match he was replaced on the court by Łukasz Krawiec):

It is difficult to watch your teammates’ efforts from the bench; I regret that I could not take part in this match. The first two sets looked quite good from the sidelines. Our reception occasionally let us down, but apart from that we were better than our opponents in every aspect of the game.

The situation changed somewhat in the third set. There was some confusion, which the opponents took advantage of: they made several very smart and well-considered substitutions. The players from Żmigród organized themselves on the court and won those two sets.

The tie-break was complete domination on our part. It was clear that the team was focused solely on winning. That attitude translated into our performance on the court.
