– This is another important element of the county’s health prevention program. Vaccinations against human papillomavirus (HPV) prevent cervical cancer. In some countries, such as England, these vaccinations are mandatory. Unfortunately, in Poland they have not yet been included in the vaccination schedule, but they are becoming increasingly popular, even though people have to pay for them – says Damian Stawikowski, Deputy Starosta.

The vaccinations will be administered by CDT Medicus at eight vaccination points throughout the county. All you need to do is register. On November 3, early detection screenings for prostate cancer and osteoporosis also began. The former are intended for men aged 50–65, while the latter are for women aged 45–65. Detailed information is available at www.omplubin.pl.

We also remind you that residents of Lubin County over the age of 65 can still receive free flu vaccinations. Detailed information is available at www.cdtmedicus.pl.

The final element of the county program will be first-aid training for first-year students at upper-secondary schools.

– We want not only to treat our residents but also to educate them. Therefore, in addition to the program for students, everyone who receives a free vaccination or screening will receive a leaflet containing detailed information about the relevant disease or vaccination – adds Damian Stawikowski.
