Zawidów is a beautiful town with a rich and fascinating history. It is worth learning about its past and exploring the architecture of bygone years.
The photographs below show the town which, before World War II, was known as Seidenberg. At the end of 2012, it had 4,351 inhabitants. The most important dates in the town’s history include: the granting of municipal rights in 1369, the establishment of the first school for the deaf and mute in the history of Germany at the end of the 17th century, the founding of a textile mill in 1848, the electrification of the town in 1914, and the ceremonial opening of a machine factory in the 1950s, which provided employment for local residents.
In the photographs below, we can admire Zawidów at the end of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century.
