President Marcin Zawiła met on 30 September with Anna Patrys, an outstanding vocalist who, after her success on the TVN talent show Mam Talent, reached the five-person final of the Elizabeth Connell Prize competition in Sydney and won against 200 other female singers from 16 countries around the world.
The prize is a scholarship worth $20,000. “It will allow me,” the competition winner said during the meeting, “to support myself in London during my vocal studies, to which I was invited after my success in Sydney. The studies are free of charge, but the condition for taking part is being able to support oneself independently in London.”
Asked whether invitations to perform had started arriving after her Australian success, Anna Patrys listed a dozen such places. However, when Marcin Zawiła asked her not to forget Jelenia Góra during her tours, she said that she was grateful to the City for financing her flight to Sydney, without which she could not have afforded to participate in that competition.
Jeleniogórzanie will certainly be able to hear her voice during a performance at the Zdrojowy Theatre of Animation later this year, on 29 December. The outstanding vocalist will then present works from Verdi’s and Puccini’s operas.
