– The only age restriction is that a candidate for the Song and Dance Ensemble “Legnica” must be at least 6 years old – says Elżbieta Tor, the ensemble’s director. – Apart from that, we invite everyone who enjoys folklore, dancing and singing and would really like to perform in our ensemble. The level of ability is not the most important thing at this stage, because the artists are trained by us anyway. I would also like to add that, besides dancers and vocalists, we are also looking for musicians. These may include music-school students, as well as older people who enjoy playing folk music.
The Song and Dance Ensemble “Legnica” is a prominent folk group in Lower Silesia. It holds a prestigious CIOFF certificate, an international document confirming its professionalism. The ZPiT artists therefore take part not only in national folklore events, but are also invited to major festivals around the world.
ZPiT “Legnica” has also been selected to participate in the 7th Lower Silesian Traditions Festival in Wrocław, as one of just a dozen or so groups chosen from among the hundreds of folk groups operating in the province. The festival will take place this coming weekend.
