The District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra has launched an investigation into an accident that occurred on 28 August this year near Śnieżka. Czech national Martin T. died there.
Investigators have established that two Czechs were flying a powered paraglider from the direction of their country that day. While jumping from the aircraft (a so-called base jump), Martin T. was directed towards the side wall of Śnieżka under unexplained circumstances, after which he struck its surface violently. He died at the scene.
Polish and Czech mountain rescuers took part in the rescue operation. An expert is investigating the causes of the tragedy. We will return to the subject.
