The Legnica Cultural Centre has prepared the 2nd Legnica Festival of Cultures, entitled “Who Sits on the Copper(-y)?”. We will see folk artists and meet storytellers and cultural-life organizers from national and ethnic minorities. Visitors will have the opportunity to try regional dishes and enjoy many other attractions. But most importantly, we will be able to see who sits on the copper! That means on the boundary line... This is not to be missed.
Our region is a true melting pot of different cultures and nationalities. After 1945, newcomers from all sorts of places settled in these lands. And although we have lived together for a long time, we often do not know our neighbours well. Sunday’s festival is intended to change that.
We will learn more about Polish ethnographic groups: repatriates from the Eastern Borderlands (Ukraine and the Vilnius Region), Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romanian Bukovina, as well as national minorities: Lemkos, Ukrainians, Germans, Roma, Jews and Russians. Since 1945, these groups have inhabited the areas of the present-day counties of Legnica, Lubin, Polkowice, Głogów, Złotoryja and Bolesławiec.
