Work on the southern carriageway began on 24 June this year, immediately after the works on the northern side of the street were completed. The remaining tasks are to lay the asphalt binder course and, finally, the wearing course.
Let us recall: Witelona and Skarbka streets will be reconstructed along their entire length, from the intersection with Jaworzyńska Street to Wilson Square. The works will include replacing the carriageway surface. The bus bay on Skarbka Street will be expanded (on the southern side, from Mickiewicza Street). A pavement will also be laid at this stop. The bus bay on Witelona Street (next to the former medical school) has been modernized. Meanwhile, the now-defunct bus stop on Witelona Street (on the side of Orła Białego Avenue) has been removed. A green area is being created in its place.
As part of this project, crash barriers will also be installed on the median separating the carriageways, telecommunications ducts will be laid, and manholes, gas and water boxes, and other infrastructure will be regulated. An additional traffic lane was built from the shoulder removed between the PSP headquarters and the underpass. A pavement will also be laid along this section, and another one between the pedestrian footbridge and Młynarska Street.
