Another very good piece of news from Legnica City Hall. The second stage of this investment is nearing completion: the construction of a road and pavement connecting gen. Władysława Andersa Street with Jana Pawła II Street.

The parking lot will be paid. The tender for its 10-year lease was won by the company “FM” from Kunice. It offered a monthly rent of 80 groszy per square metre (the total area available for lease is 3,473 m²). The lessee will determine the terms of use of the parking lot. We will inform you when they are known.

Work on the roads and parking lot in the area of Klubowa Street began in March this year. As part of the first stage of the project, Klubowa Street (connecting Złotoryjska Street with Okrzei Street) was rebuilt. The road was paved with reclaimed granite blocks and illuminated. Safety railings were installed by the embankment, and stairs leading to the parking lot were built.

The parking lot itself has 96 spaces, including 11 for people with disabilities; it is paved with concrete blocks and illuminated. Space was also provided for street furniture, namely benches, rubbish bins and a bicycle rack. In the first stage of the investment, a connecting road between Andersa Street and Jana Pawła II Street was planned and built, but only as far as the parking lot entrance. In addition, 300 metres of stormwater drainage were constructed.

After the tender had been decided, it turned out that substantial savings had been made. The mayor therefore decided that the second stage of the investment would be carried out: the construction of a road connecting Andersa Street with Jana Pawła II Street. The project had originally been planned for next year. Work could begin because the contract with the contractor included a clause allowing supplementary works to continue. This provision was used.

The road is now almost finished. As part of this project, a street with a concrete-block pavement and lighting was built. Parking bays for 11 vehicles were created alongside it. Access roads to garages were also constructed, as was a pavement from Złotoryjska Street leading to the new road.

“For residents of this part of the city, and not only them, this road is the fulfilment of a dream,” one resident told us. “We will be able to get around safely and on a very good surface.”

The city allocated nearly PLN 2 million to this project, covering stages I and II. It is an investment that will make life easier for MCZ patients and other residents who come to this part of the city to shop or visit other institutions. The appearance of the area has clearly improved.

Let us also recall that trees obstructing the investment were removed while the site for the parking lot was being prepared. In connection with this, the heritage conservator issued decisions requiring replacement plantings. Within three years, 53 trees and 20 square metres of shrubs are to be planted in Tarninów (or another part of the city).
