Our reader wrote to us, explaining the retirees’ request:

In 2011, I was interviewed by Mrs Grażyna Hanaf for your newspaper. It concerned discounted swimming-pool prices for retirees. It worked then. This time, I am not asking for ticket prices to be changed, only for the time spent at the pool for the same price to be extended during the holiday period. The pool certainly would not suffer financial losses by supporting retirees in this way.

Retirees receive a discount from 6:30 to 8:00, and then the pool empties. Why not give retirees a little more time to enjoy themselves? On every occasion there are handshakes for retirees, but when it comes to doing something, no one is there. I spoke both with the manager and the director, and they said they would think about it. As you can see, thinking is difficult for them, because July has passed and they are still thinking.

It is sad to watch these older people crowding around the fountain, massaging their legs, and hurrying to the changing rooms because their time is already running out, while every minute beyond an hour costs more.

The manager of the Orka water park knows about the matter and confirms that he discussed it with the reader. “We want to help,” says Robert Tomczyk. “We reported it to the Łódź company that operates our wristband payment system, but technically it is difficult to implement. The entire system would have to be changed, and then others would come forward: mothers with children, people with disabilities. Everyone would want their time extended,” the manager adds.
