The pilot whose helicopter crashed into a field in May between Tomaszów Bolesławiecki and Kruszyn did not have a licence to fly the aircraft; the case is being investigated by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec and the aviation accident investigation commission, TVN24 reported. Moreover, the portal learned unofficially that the aircraft was made up of parts from other helicopters.
Sebastian Woźniak from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec told TVN24 that the pilot did not have a licence to fly this helicopter and that the aircraft was not registered in Poland, while the flight had not been reported to the civil aviation authority. The pilot could face up to 10 years in prison. We will return to the case on Monday.
To recap: the incident took place on 19 May between Tomaszów Bolesławiecki and Kruszyn. The helicopter, carrying two people, crashed into a field. The pilot probably wanted to land.
Both people aboard the helicopter were injured. An air ambulance transported the more seriously injured person to a hospital in Legnica. The second person was taken to a hospital in Bolesławiec.
The two-seat Robinson R22 helicopter probably belonged to a resident of the Gmina Warta Bolesławiecka.
