The Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championships were held on Saturday, June 28, in Borne Sulinowo. Taekwondo athletes aged 18–21 (under-23 competitors) took part in the competition, including two representatives of LMKS Gladius Bolesławiec.
Paulina Stojanowska won a silver medal in the women’s -46 kg category, making her debut after a long break caused by a hip injury. The athlete had only a month to return to form. She did not quite manage to do so, but she thoroughly deserved her second-place finish.
Kamil Serafin (a secondary-school graduate this year) was defeated only in the final of the -74 kg category by the highly decorated favorite from Warsaw, Karol Hołubowicz. It was Kamil’s second appearance in this age category; last year, he won bronze.
This was the last competition of the half-year for the LMKS Gladius athletes. In total, Bolesławiec athletes won 5 medals at the Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championships (in the under-16, junior and under-23 categories). The club still has a busy summer ahead (a training camp), while the medalists will compete in the September International Polish Championships in Warsaw.
