The awards ceremony for the winners of the 3rd Poviat Literary Competition “Preserve in Time,” organized by the Poviat Center for Education and Staff Training in cooperation with the Senior Citizens’ Council operating under the President of Bolesławiec, took place on June 25 at the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec. The guests were welcomed by Cezariusz Rudyk, director of PCEiKK.

Next, Krystyna Raszka, a Polish-language teaching adviser at PCEiKK and the author of the “Preserve in Time” competition, spoke. “This competition is very important to me. I think it is important to many of you as well,” she emphasized.

The aim of the competition, whose idea was born in 2012, the European Year for Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity, is to create bonds between generations. Approximately 130 students took part in this year’s edition. Each of them presented the profile of a senior they knew.

“Children and young people are unaware of the values that seniors bring,” Krystyna Raszka said in an interview with “ii.” “But they are slowly beginning to notice them. This can be seen in the competition entries, especially those written by older students. Even in ancient Greece, adulthood, maturity and experience were valued. Today, youth and childishness are placed first. I believe these proportions should be somewhat reversed.”

The ceremony was enhanced by performances by Sandra Pacyna, Justyna Orłowska and Adrian Pacyna, students of the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec. Sandra and Justyna were accompanied by Marek Łętowski, director of the Youth Cultural Centre.
