On Monday evening, a man with extensive burns to his arms and legs was admitted to the surgical ward of the hospital in Bolesławiec. The burns covered more than 40% of his body. The German national of Polish origin was injured in a petrol explosion that occurred yesterday in Szczytnica, in a former Soviet housing estate.

Before eleven o’clock, a German helicopter landed on the stadium grounds in the centre of Bolesławiec. “At the family’s request, the man was transported to a hospital in Berlin today,” says Grażyna Bomba, head of the Bolesławiec emergency medical service. The German insurer will pay for the transport.
