Mateusz Grobelny has been nominated for a showcase of the work of the best European ceramic artists, “Europen Ceramic Context 2014,” and will take part in the competition at the international ceramics festival, which will be held this autumn on Bornholm, Denmark.

This year’s festival edition has nominated 120 artists from 30 European countries. The artists’ works will be presented in two exhibitions: “European Ceramic Art” (established professionals) and “New Talent” for professional emerging artists—ceramic artists under 35. Mateusz Grobelny will present his work at the latter exhibition.

The jury of the international ceramics festival will select one winner in each of the two categories, who will receive a prize worth €10,000.

The nominated work by the Bolesławiec artist can be viewed in the foyer of the International Ceramics Centre.

Istotne.pl has written many times about the successes of the talented artist who became associated with Bolesławiec. The artist, who presented his imaginative kilns at the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival, was invited to our city by Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK-MCC.

At the cultural centre, he created his own independent studio, where he teaches interested amateurs and people wishing to take entrance examinations for the Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2011, Mateusz Grobelny presented his unique mobile kiln at Europe’s largest International Ceramics Festival. In 2012, as the only Pole, he was invited to a festival in a renowned ceramics production centre in South Korea, and in 2013 he became the curator of the International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium in Bolesławiec.
