The two-match series between BTS Bolesławiec and TS Volley Żarów has been decided. Last Saturday, the players of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie defeated the Żarów team away from home, 3–2. On February 8, the return match took place in the sports hall of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych in Bolesławiec. The Bolesławiec team once again proved that they are the better side. Our team defeated their rivals in impressive style, 3–0 (25–11, 26–24, 25–23), thereby taking fifth place in the men’s Third League standings.

BTS: Arkadiusz Folga, Damian Śliwiński, Wojciech Marcinkiewicz, Paweł Zakrzewski, Tomasz Włoszczyński, Łukasz Krawiec, Kamil Biczak (libero), as well as Sławomir Potocki, Paweł Rutkowski, Jakub Czyżewski and Marek Baran. The Bolesławiec team’s coach is Krzysztof Mosiądz.

Update

After the match, deputy district head Stanisław Chwojnicki and member of the Bolesławiec County Board Dariusz Kwaśniewski presented BTS players with commemorative USB flash drives, while the club authorities received clocks featuring a landmark of Bolesławiec County. “We cooperate with the club, which is no secret,” says Dariusz Kwaśniewski. “President Jacek Łuczkowski and coach Krzysztof Mosiądz asked for the ZSOiZ sports hall. During the competition, we concluded that it was too small—not because of the volleyball players, but because of the fans. I did not expect so many Bolesławiec residents to attend volleyball matches. Therefore, BTS’s next matches will be played in the sports hall of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące.

“We took to the court determined to win 3–0 and take fifth place; we were 100% motivated,” says Krzysztof Mosiądz, BTS vice-president. “Every element of our game worked perfectly: a very good block and reception. This allowed us to impose our conditions very quickly. In the second set, we became somewhat relaxed, but ultimately we won. We are very pleased with fifth place. Before the competition, we did not set ourselves any goals; above all, we wanted to play as well as possible in every match. Our position in the standings is a good sign for next season.

“Things developed very dynamically. We were supposed to play in the Fourth League and fight for a mid-table position. We ended up in the Third League, which pleasantly surprised us. But an even more pleasant surprise was the way our team played,” summarizes the season Tomasz Włoszczyński, captain of our volleyball team. “After the first part of the season, we were in second place. Unfortunately, we performed somewhat worse in the return round. Injuries depleted our squad. There were few matches in which we played with our strongest lineup. It is fantastic that we finished fifth, especially since we played in a considerably stronger group. I can promise that next season we will aim to match the best.

The volleyball players have finished the season, but they do not intend to rest on their laurels. They will continue training and are also due to take part in three tournaments. “The team’s morale is high; nobody feels like taking a break—we are hungry for more games,” the team captain assures us. “In the autumn, we will give it everything.

The president and vice-president of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Siatkarskie thank all the players and fans for their outstanding support. The match was enhanced by a performance from a dance group from Nowogrodziec.
